Welcome to Mongeese.co.uk & RHobbs.co.uk – The personal site of Richard Hobbs! You may also know me as “fishsponge” if you’ve talked to me online.

I’m a computer/network administrator by profession and spend my hours outside of work either playing around with my web sites, riding or fixing my 1966 classic motorcycle, camping at steam rallies and other events, off roading in my Land Rover, taking photographs, shooting video (and uploading the high-definition versions to my Youtube channel) or playing on my Xbox 360!

On this site, you can read my blog and/or subscribe to my blog by email or RSS, browse through the photos and videos and all sorts of other things.

If you’re not sure what to buy me for my birthday or Christmas (and you’re someone who would actually normally get me something) or if you are simply feeling generous, then feel free to get something from my Wishlist!

It’s been a long while since I updated the steam area of my blog, so there’ll be a few events covered in this update. I’ll try to keep it relatively brief though.

At late notice I learned about the Audley End Steam Gala, held at Audley End Miniature Railway on Sat 14 & Sun 15 May 2011. I couldn’t make it on the Saturday, and was busy at the steam yard on Sunday, but having finished up at the steam yard I headed down rather late in the day to see if anything was still happening.

As it turns out, everything had gone. I got there at around 6pm on the Sunday, so it’s not surprising. Nevertheless, as it’s so close to the steam yard, it’d be nice to try and get there next year on one of the engines from the yard!

Anyway… onto the next topic. Our trusty Vango Orchy 600 tent has been sold!
